Mrs. Maria Virissimo Gibson has spent the last 30 years in the “private” sector where she spent most of her professional career in operations management. Ms. Gibson was responsible for the day to day operations of a national processing center and managed a staff of over 300 employees and was directly responsible for $110 million in revenue, she later went on to be a Principal, Product management where she identified researched and evaluated potential new products for development. Ms. Gibson has always been a strong advocate for public education and devoted much of her free time volunteering countless hours at various schools. Her hard work and dedication was recognized when she was nominated (and won) SDUSD middle school volunteer of the year. Ms. Gibson went on to serve on the executive board of the Point Loma Pointer Association where she was the Fundraising Director and helped raise over $250,000 for various school wide improvement and student enrichment programs. When not volunteering, Ms. Gibson loves to spend time with her husband John, her two beautiful daughters Justine and Gianna and her 9 nieces and nephews! (they truly bring her so much laughter and Joy!) Her hobbies include traveling with her family, watching her nephews play sports (especially loves high school football), shopping and cooking, she has recently developed a love for “baking” and has become the resident “e3 Baker”.
