e3 Performing Arts Showcase e3 Civic High celebrated the culmination of another year of scholarship in the arts. Scholars demonstrated their creativity, skill, and musical mastery during an evening showcase event. We were proud to host this display of talent on Wednesday, March 15 in the Neil Morgan Auditorium of the Central Library, ground floor.
Professional Attire REQUIRED ATTIREAll scholars are required to wear the following professional attire every school day. Options allowed on specific days of the week are included on the attire guideline chart. FIELD TRIPS & INTERNSHIPS: Scholars must wear full Tuesday professional attire (including tie). No sweatshirts on the days they attend these events.
Hidden Figures e3 Attends the Private Screening On January 31, all 450 members of the entire e3 Learning Community walked to Horton Plaza to view the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson - brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio, also members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
Delta Leadership Intern Program is Recruiting Empowering Young Women to be Leaders The San Diego Delta Foundation, Incorporated was recruiting for the 2017-18 cohort of their Young Women's Leadership Development Academy.
Bye Bye Birdie: An e3 Civic High Performing Arts Production Don't miss the stellar production, a musical comedy of Bye Bye Birdie this Wednesday, April 26 1:00 pm and a repeat performance on Friday, April 28 at 7:00 pm. This play production is led by Ms. Julia Wallace and the scholars have dedicated hours of professional rehearsals in order to present to you their best talent. The production is also supported by scholars enrolled in the Technical Theatre eBlock led by Mr. Sciarratta and Ms. Quigley. Our scholars are learning to master the industry level audio visual tools within the Library's City TV Studio to capture and enhance the performance. We hope to see you there in the Glen Morgan Auditorium in our beautiful Central Library!
e3 China Bridge Competition e3 Civic High scholars participated in the 2017 China Bridge Competition on Friday, March 17 at Mission Bay High School. This is an annual event sponsored by The Chinese Ministry of Education and the Confucius Institute of San Diego State. There are three components to the high school competition: writing, speaking, talent in performance. We salute the hard work and dedication of our scholars and Mandarin Learning Facilitators.
e3 Civic High Chamber Choir 1st Place CMEA Festival Winners! On Saturday, February 4th, e3's Chamber Choir competed at the California Music Education Association's Solo/Ensemble Festival in Pacific Beach. Our scholars placed 1st with a "Superior" rating! This qualifies them for the state championship festival, which will take place on May 13th at Azusa Pacific University.The scholars are beyond excited and thrilled to take their music to the next level. Sustainable Urban Agriculture is Blooming at e3 Mr. Newman and the e3 scholars were busy at the SMART Farm and with the onsite Hydroponic garden as the veggies are growing! Their harvest yielded fresh kale, broccoli, lettuce, herbs, and so much more. After harvest, the scholars took to the Nutrition Lab to make delicious Kale chips and fresh cheese. The scholars are mastering the ability to grow and prepare organic foods all on an urban budget. These are the future Nutritional Healers..
