About e3 Civic

Our History

Developed alongside the San Diego Central Library, e3 Civic High's charter was first authorized and established in 2010 by the San Diego Unified School District. e3 first opened it's doors in the fall of 2013 with an entering class of 265 Ninth and Tenth-grade students. Since then our school has grown to serve approximately 450 students from a diverse population from across San Diego county as we continue to innovate and redefine professional development opportunities.

Our Mission and Vision

At e3 Civic High our mission is to engage, educate, and empower our learning community to be caring, passionate, life-long learners and civic leaders prepared for college, workforce, and life.

We aspire that every student will be college, workforce, and life ready.

Everything we do at e3 Civic connects back to this mission and vision.

Learning Model
& Graduate Profile

The e3 Learning Model and Graduate Profile are both aligned with our Mission. The e3 Learning Model is how teaching and learning happens at e3 to ensure our Mission is accomplished in every learning studio for every scholar, every day. The e3 Graduate Profile demonstrates our Mission in action: who our scholars become as they enter college, workforce, and life.

Life & Workforce Development

All e3 Civic Scholars have clear College, Workforce, and life targets that our Academic and Wellness Counselors assist with mapping alongside students. At e3 we place special emphasis on Academic, Civic Engagement, and Internship experiences to prepare our students for life. Scholars fundamentally are setup for interviews with community and business internships, and all Scholars develop a capstone business proposal that reinforces e3's Foundational values.

Technology Enhanced Learning

e3 Civic High Scholars are introduced to fundamental computer literacy skills core to our educational values. Students are provided Mac Airbooks and encouraged to explore our design thinking projects with equipment made available through our campus Fabrication Labs. 3D printing and CAD design, Glowforge laser cutting, sewing and more are made available in each of our Common areas across the campus.
